PREFACE

Each of these pointers gives you a taste of the knowledge

and skills you should strive to apply as you adjust to your

job as a new attorney.

If you do not understand some of the concepts or

terms, this gives you an idea of what questions to ask

and what training to pursue.

Note that the word “ rm,” and corresponding terms such as

“associate” and “partner,” are used in the text; if you are in another type

of workplace, such as a corporation or government entity, the essential

advice applies. Please calibrate the terminology for your situation and

use these pointers as guideposts.
