ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
e heartiest of “thank yous” to my editor at ABA Publishing, Erin Nevius.
Special appreciation to Professor Michele Tobenkin for reviewing this text, and
to Craig Gold, Esq. (founder of legaledtech.org) for assistance with the section on
online learning.
ank you to everyone in the Acknowledgments section of the student text, many
of whom have been instrumental in helping inform my views on eective bar support
and academic success.
My deep gratitude to the UCLA Law School faculty who taught me, particularly Pro-
fessors Paul Bergman, David Binder, Albert Moore, and Carrie Menkel-Meadow, all of
whom are among the great pioneers in clinical legal education. Paul Bergman’s excellence
in teaching, and his humanity, generosity and unfailing support also inspired my career
path in legal education, something for which I am immensely and continually grateful.
A special thank you to Barry Currier, now Managing Director of Accreditation
and Legal Education at the American Bar Association, for entrusting me when he
was Dean to launch an alumni bar mentoring program and to continue to expand and
innovate with both curricular and extra-curricular bar support.
To Professor Arthur R. Miller, the law professor’s Law Professor who continues to
inspire at every turn. While faculty and administration nationwide strategize about
how to improve “student engagement,” one need only take a glimpse at any of the
decades of “Erie Day” celebrations in Professor Miller’s classes to see just how engaged
law students can be. We all still have much to learn from the master.
I wish to highlight all of the excellent sources referenced in the Bibliography por-
tion of the main text, in the Appendix portion of this Teacher’s Edition, and in end-
notes in both texts.
To all my colleagues: you continu ally inspire in your eorts and commitment to
student-centered teaching. I particularly want to thank Professor Steve Bracci and
Professor Tina Schindler, with whom I am currently team teaching bar support
courses. And, to Dean Greg Brandes and Dean Penelope Bryan for allowing me the
opportunities to grow in my own teaching, and for supporting our students at every
turn, both in law school and on the bar exam.
Last but not least, thank you to my students, past, present and future; I learn from
you every day.
