ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sara Berman is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law and has been a professor since
1998, joining the Concord Law School faculty as a pioneer in online legal education
in 2000 and now serving also as Concord’s Assistant Dean of Bar Support Programs.
Berman is also currently the Assistant Dean of Academic Support and Bar Support at
Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California. Her courses include criminal law and
procedure, torts, contracts, remedies, and community property, as well as legal writing,
study skills, and bar exam success seminars. Professor Berman also lectures nationwide
for Kaplan Bar Review, preparing students for both substantive and skills portions
of bar exams in numerous jurisdictions. Her publications include e Criminal Law
Handbook: Know Your Rights, Survive the System, and Represent Yourself in Court: How
to Prepare and Try a Winning Case, both coauthored with UCLA Law Professor Paul
Bergman and published by Nolo.com, as well as numerous law-related articles, bar
exam, and academic support course materials. She is the author of this book’s com-
panion text for students, Pass the Bar Exam, and is one of the founders of PASS Bar
