This Guide is the brainchild of ABI's Financial Advisors and Investment Banking Committee. Written by a group of professionals from leading law firms, financial advisory firms and investment banks, the Guide gathers their collective insights into the inner workings of a chapter 11 case with the goal of guiding the Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) through the process. Each chapter of the Guide represents the combined efforts of several legal and financial advisory firms, presenting the CRO with each side's unique perspectives on what occurs during a chapter 11 case and the CRO's role within it. These combined viewpoints provide the CRO with the breadth of knowledge needed to address a multitude of issues that typically arise in chapter 11 cases.

The CRO is the corporate officer appointed to oversee the restructuring of a distressed company. CROs are not mentioned in the Bankruptcy Code, nor have they been in common corporate parlance until recently. However, the CRO has become one of the most important leadership positions within a distressed company. This Guide provides a detailed analysis of the CRO's role, from engagement to a sale or bankruptcy plan and beyond. A CRO can read this book cover-to-cover, or use it to address specific issues that may occur in a chapter 11 case. While the Guide does not cover every issue that a CRO might face, it does give the CRO a roadmap on how to successfully navigate a chapter 11 case.
