Grace Brooks, West Third Group, graceb@west-third.com. Grace created

the custom cartoons in this book and for other projects of mine.

Grace is an author, cartoonist, and a graphic artist with more than 30 years

of experience. Besides creating the self-syndicated comic strip “Happily

Ever After,” Grace’s cartoons have appeared in national publications includ-

ing “The Saturday Evening Post.” She is the author/illustrator of the Every

Tuesday Girls Club series of books for young adult readers. Grace can be

Complete Speaker’s Almanac, by Leonard and Thelma Spinrad

This is my favorite. It is organized by date, and for each day there are one

or more stories, quotes, and anecdotes about some historical or interest-

ing event. Look up the day of your presentation in this book, and the

weeks before and after. See if there is anything in here you can refer to at

the beginning of your presentation to grab your audience, and then, of

course, circle back to it in your conclusion with some reference to it and

your presentation/theme.
