COLOMBIAN COAL IN THE GLOBAL CONTEXT

JACKIE CANTILLO has been the Americas Correspondent of IHS McCloskey for the last 12 years. She is responsible for IHS McCloskey's research and operations in the Americas and puts together the annual IHS McCloskey Coal Conference of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia. She also organized the McCloskey Petcoke Conference in the U.S. Ms. Cantillo has done consultancy work at The McCloskey Group for Colombian government agencies such as Carbocol, Ingeominas, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and has collaborated in various consulting jobs at the McCloskey Group for clients such as Duke Power, Chile's National Electricity Commission, and AES. She is the author of Colombia's Coal Exports management report, which gives essential insight into the country's export prospects, outlines the current structure of the industry and plots its likely development, places Colombia's aspirations in the context of the Atlantic market, and addresses the key questions facing the industry and its investors. Prior to joining IHS McCloskey, Ms. Cantillo was Marketing Coordinator in Carbocol, the JV partner with Exxon for the development of the Cerrejón mine, the world's largest export open pit coal mining operation, located in La Guajira department in the northeastern part of Colombia. Ms. Cantillo has been a lecturer for 22 years in the fields of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of the Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Andes in Colombia and an MSc in Thermal Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S.
