§53.1.6 ANALYSIS

Upon written consent of all parties in a civil lawsuit, the court must refer requested issues of fact and law to a referee for adjudication. RCW 4.48.010. The parties' written agreement constitutes a waiver of their right to a jury trial. RCW 4.48.010. Referees cannot hear criminal actions. RCW 4.48.010.

Within 20 days after the trial, the referee issues a proposed written report containing findings of fact and conclusions of law. RCW 4.48.110.
