§26.7 SERVICE AND FILING OF PAPERS; ACCEPTANCE OF FAX OR E-MAIL

RAP 18.5 is the general rule governing the service and filing of papers. With certain exceptions specified in the rule, RAP 18.5(a) provides that a person filing a paper must, at or before the time of filing, serve a copy of the paper on all parties, amici, and other persons who may be entitled to notice.

If a person does not have an attorney of record, service should be made upon the person. Service must be made as provided in CR 5(b), (f), (g), and (h). Proof of service is made pursuant to RAP 18.5(b), which is substantially the same as CR 5 and makes a specific...
