Bipartisan Policy Center
http://bipartisanpolicy.org/
The Bipartisan Policy Centers (BPC) mission combines politically balanced policymaking,
proactive advocacy, and outreach. It is the only Washington, DCbased think tank that actively
promotes bipartisanship. Its policy solutions are the result of informed deliberations by former
elected and appointed ofcials, business and labor leaders, and academics and advocates who
represent both ends of the political spectrum. The Center currently focuses on health, energy,
national and homeland security, the economy, housing, immigration, and governance.
Center for Law and Social Policy

The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) recently marked its 40-year anniversary. It
continues its mission of advocacy for millions of low-income people, promoting policies and
programs to strengthen families, create pathways to education and work, and improve the
lives of low-income people. This mission has evolved with the times. CLASP notes that
since the late 1960s, the gap between rich and poor has widened. The percent of people
living in poverty has uctuated but has never dipped below the low it reached in 1973, and
the rate once again is rising. The current rate is 13.7 percent, which is the highest it has been
in 13 years.
