The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics or IBGE (Portuguese: Instituto Brasileiro
de Geograa e Estat
ıstica), is the agency responsible for statistical, geographic, cartographic,
geodetic, and environmental information in Brazil. The IBGE performs a national census
every 10 years, gathering data such as age, household income, literacy, education, occupa-
tion, and hygiene levels.

The Labor Markets and Social Security Unit of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
carries out an active program of employment development in Latin America and the Carib-
bean. The banks goals are to reduce poverty, promote equality of opportunities, support
higher productivity through employment services and better training, extend the reach of
social insurance, and provide labor market analysis and information. In order to achieve
these goals, the IDB currently focuses on analytical work and projects in the following four
main areas: Intermediation, Labor Training, Social Security, and Labor Migration.
