Executive order creates payroll tax confusion.

Check with your tax advisor before changing your payroll withholding procedures to follow President Trump's executive order that allows employers to suspend the employee portion of Social Security taxes from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31. The order lets employers suspend payroll taxes, but it doesn't create a tax holiday. That means workers will eventually have to pay those taxes unless Congress enacts a law to wipe out the debt.
