§44.8STRATEGIC AND PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
CR 44 provides specific, nonexclusive procedures for authenticating both domestic and foreign official records. Other avenues of authentication are often simpler, however. ER 902 provides that certain types of public records are self-authenticating and sets forth requirements for self-authentication that are generally less burdensome than those of CR44. RCW 5.44.040 also offers a simpler statutory means than CR 44 of authenticating domestic public records by eliminating the attestation requirement.
