PATRICIA NúÑEZ graduated from the University of Chile School of Law (JD) and Yale Law School (Master in Laws). She is considered a leading practitioner in the areas of mining, energy, and natural resources by publications such as Chambers, Legal500, Latin Lawyer, Best Lawyers, LACCA. She worked at Debevosie & Plimpton (New York 1997-98) and she is one of the founding partners of the Chilean law firm "Núñez Muñoz & Cía. Ltda, Abogados." She was awarded the P. Nicolás Montenegro Award, as the best graduate student of her promotion at the University of Chile School of Law and a Fulbright Scholarship. She is former Trustee at Large of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and current Chair of the Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law of the International Bar Association (SEERIL).

EUGENE E. SMARY is a partner with the Grand Rapids, Michigan office of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP. He has been practicing environmental and resources law for over 35 years. Much of his practice currently focuses on cross-border (Canada-United States) environmental, natural resource, and infrastructure issues, and on resource extraction with an emphasis on metallic mineral mining. He is the past Chair of the Section of Environment Energy and Resources (SEER) of the American Bar Association, the former Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the immediate past Chair of the International Bar Association's Environment Health and Safety Law Committee. He is presently serving as the Vice Chair of the IBA's Section of Energy, Environment, Resources and Infrastructure Law. He previously served as the ABA Trustee on the Board of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame Law School. He is a member of the first class of Fellows elected to the American College of Environmental Lawyers, and is a member of the International, American, Michigan, and Canadian Bar Associations.
