A vaccine's risks of adverse side effects can be noted by counsel as the client's concerns are among the likely set of problems or pitfalls to be encountered. Experience with many other analyses of the reports of vaccine reactions could set the stage for potential later claims that your client had suffered a vaccine-caused injury.

"Reactogenicity" is the physical manifestation associated with an inflammatory response caused by a vaccination. Local symptoms of a reaction include injection-site pain, redness, swelling. This is because vaccines target macrophages and mast cells most readily—releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and vasodilators.

"Systemic" symptoms of a reaction to a vaccine include fever, myalgia, and headache. Other adverse events may include anaphylactic reactions, diseases diagnosed after vaccination, and...
