§20.2 MANDATE GENERALLY

A mandate is "the written notification by the clerk of the appellate court to the trial court and to the parties of an appellate court decision terminating review." RAP 12.5(a). A mandate is simply the piece of paper the clerk sends to the trial court indicating that the appellate court has fully disposed of the case and advising who has been awarded costs.

A mandate typically has the appellate court caption and both the appellate and trial court docket numbers, and contains substantially the following language:
