Taft pushes federal fuel cell tax credit.

Gov. Bob Taft urged Congress to approve tax credits for businesses and homeowners who install fuel cell electricity stations.

Joining governors from Maryland, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, Taft issued a statement supporting the measure. It is part of the National Energy Policy Act of 2005, which is under consideration by Congress.

Experimental fuel cells are designed to produce cleaner energy than traditional power plants. They extract electricity from fuel through a chemical process, rather than burning fuel.
