Survey finds accounting profession in solid shape.

The CPA profession's revenue growth was 9.7 percent in 2005, compared to 7 percent in 2004, according to the 2006 Rosenberg Associates' eighth annual Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) Survey.

The 2005 figure is the best growth since 2000, when the industry posted an 11.8 percent increase. The main obstacle to even higher growth was a shortage of staff to meet heavy workloads, particularly at smaller firms.

The survey broke its 281 participants into three revenue groups:

* Over $10 million in net fees

* Net fees between $2 million and $10 million

* Net fees below $2 million
