IX. SUGGESTIONS FOR COMPLIANCE
Robinson-Patman compliance will often begin
by working with your legal counsel to ensure that the
people most likely to be exposed to price discrimina-
tion issues are able to spot potential issues when they
arise, and seek the appropriate legal advice when
needed. This can be done th rough small seminars,
compliance materials, or any other typ es of train-
ing activities that are suitable to a company’s envi-
ronment. Training on Robinson-Patman should be
scheduled on a periodic basis to account for employ-
ment changes, the need for refreshers, and to address
developments in the law.
An effective training program wil l be tailored
to each company’s particular business, products, and
distribution network. It is useful to involve the busi-
ness people in creating such a program so that it can
incorporate a variety of real istic scenarios that the
company may face. The program should also con-
sider the potential Robinson-Patman issues that may
arise when looking both upstream a nd downstream
from the company’s perspective.
Robinson-Patman training is typical ly built into
a larger training progra m that covers other areas of
