Foreword

The ABA Section of Antitrust Law is pleased to

publish the Fourth Edition of its popular Pr imer on the

Federal Price Discrimination Laws. The Primer has

been updated to reect developments in the law since

it was rst published in 1992 and last revised in 2005.

The Robinson-Patman Act continues to have a major

impact on product pricing and distr ibution and is a fre-

quent source of legal questions and litigation. The Sec-

tion of Antitrust Law hopes that this Four th Edition of

the Primer, like the earlier editions, will assist lawyers

and business persons in understanding this complex

antitrust law and identifying issues that require more

in-depth consideration.

The primary editor of the fourth Edition of the

Primer was Frank Y. Qi, a Vice-Chair of the Antitrust

Section’s Pricing Conduct Committee. Important edi-

torial contributions were made by Gregory M. Sergi,

Melanie L. Aitken, Chair of the Se ction’s Pricing Con-

duct Committee, and Stephen A. Stack, Co -chair of the

Section’s Books and Treatises Committee. Thanks to

all for your ongoing commitment to developments in

this challenging area of our p ractice.
