I am pleased to present the 2001 Ninth Circuit Environmental Review. Providing a convenient resource for the scholar as well as the practitioner, this issue presents categorically organized and indexed summaries of the environmental and natural resources cases decided by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2000-2001. This reference is the product of a year of hard work by exceptionally dedicated and capable members of the Ninth Circuit Review.

Additionally, two student members of the Review have contributed insightful Chapters on some of the more challenging environmental and natural resources issues facing the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Laura Hartt uses Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Association v. NMFS as a springboard for a comprehensive analysis of logging's adverse cumulative effects on protected species and the legal tools available to environmental advocates for challenging logging practice based on these effects.
