New webinar explores
‘data maturity’
The Foundation Center will host a webinar titled
Assessing Your Organization’s Data Maturity” on
July 13 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
According to the center, having and using current
valid information about your members is essential to
thriving nonprots. The rst step is understanding
where your organization is on the spectrum of data
maturity—that is, whether you don’t collect or track
any information at all about your members or if you
rely on a sophisticated customer relationship manage-
ment model.
This webinar, hosted by staff from Idealware, will
help nonprot leaders understand where they are on
the continuum of data maturity and how to move
forward on the data maturity spectrum, including ap-
propriate tools and tactics and what to expect based on
their starting position. Webinar content will be based
on Idealware’s new report on data maturity, which
came out in June.
Fees for this event are $50.

Foundation Center webinar
tackles board fundraising
The Foundation Center will host a webinar titled
“Moving Your Board Beyond Events-Based Fund-
raising” on July 20 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
According to organizers, when it comes to engag-
ing board members in fundraising, special events
are familiar territory. Board members nd sponsors,
sell tickets and network like pros at the event itself.
Afterward, however, they often relax and disengage
for much of the year until gala time rolls around
again. But there is an alternative to this cycle, the
Center said.
Attendees of this webinar will learn how to
turn events into a launching point for their board
members to recruit new supporters (particularly for
major gifts), deepen existing relationships, and get
out and ask year-round. The webinar will be led by
Judy Levine from Cause Effective, who will share her
lessons from years of helping boards move toward
building long-term donor relationships, using events
as only one of many strategies in their year-round
friend-raising arsenal.
Fees for this event are $50.

Charityhowto.com webinar
looks at volunteer training
The nonprot resources website Charityhowto.com
will host a webinar titled “Make it Stick! How to De-
sign Volunteer Orientation & Training That Engages
Learners” on July 25 and Aug. 2 at 3:00 p.m. EDT and
1:00 p.m. EDT, respectively.
According to organizers, this webinar will show
participants how to develop training that both engages
new volunteers and improves the quality and consis-
tency of the services they offer their organization.
The webinar will be led by Tobi Johnson, president
and founder of VolunteerPro, an online learning and
networking community for volunteer managers. Par-
ticipants will walk away with a host of tips that will
make their volunteer training programs more effective,
including how to develop learning goals for training

als for your audience and budget, how to plan course
timing so it doesn’t overwhelm volunteers and how to
evaluate training programs to see if they are working.
