Foundation Center webinar explores
partnerships, collaborations
The Foundation Center will host a webinar titled
“Weaving Successful Partnerships: How Funders,
Intermediaries, and Evaluators Can Collaborate for
Change” on Oct. 3 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
According to the Foundation Center, funders
seeking to change large systems often engage in-
termediaries and evaluators to realize their visions.
But what does it really take to make these partner-
ships work well? And how can you ensure that all
partners collaborate and communicate clearly and
uniformly to advance and not obstruct or confuse
implementation?
In this session—featuring Meg Long of Equal
Measure, Clare Nolan of Engage R+D, Elizabeth
González of the College Futures Foundation and
Joel Vargas of Jobs for the Future—participants
will explore how funder-intermediary-evaluator
partnerships can utilize ways of working that lead to
improved learning and impact. Drawing from recent
research, the panelists will share their experience as
partners with the James Irvine Foundation’s Linked
Learning Regional Hubs of Excellence, and present
themes from case studies involving other national
funders, intermediaries and evaluators.
They will explore how to navigate ve common
tensions in partnerships, as well as describe eight
emerging practices for setting up partnerships for
success.
This event is free to the public.

Webinar offers pointers
on choosing consultants
The Foundation Center will host a webinar titled
“How to Choose the Best Consultant for Your Non-
prot” on Oct. 31 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
According to organizers, nonprots of all sizes
are looking to outside experts—consultants, train-
ers, coaches or freelancers—to help them solve their
biggest challenges.
However, there are risks to hiring a consultant—
money, time and reputations are often on the line, and
while there are plenty of credentials and certications
in the consulting world, there is no guarantee the
consultant you choose will be any good at the job.
In this webinar, attendees will hear from two prac-
ticing consultants with over 40 years of combined ex-
perience advising nonprots to learn how to identify,
screen and select the best consultants for the job, and
manage the engagement to maximize results.
Registration fees for this event are $49 until Oct.
23, after which time fees will increase to $75.
