Foundation Center explores
mobile-ready fundraising
The Foundation Center will hold a webinar titled
“Getting Mobile-Ready for Year-End Fundraising”
Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
The webinar, which will be hosted on the Foun-
dation Center’s Grantspace.org platform, will be led
by Darian Rodriguez Heyman, author of Nonprot
Fundraising 101 and executive director at the Numi
Foundation.
According to organizers, this webinar will help par-
ticipants optimize end-of-year campaigns for mobile
viewing and mobile giving, thereby capitalizing on
the growing trend among Americans, nearly half of
which check their smartphones as soon as they wake
up, starting with email and social media.
The webinar will provide a practical checklist of the
most important tips and tools for your cause, includ-
ing insights on:
Why mobile presents a huge opportunity for any
nonprot.
Planning for success and tips for building a mobile
website, apps, text-to-donate campaigns and social
media integration, as well as analyzing and optimiz-
ing campaigns.

Charityhowto.com webinar focuses
on fundraising phone calls
The nonprot resources website Charityhowto.com
will feature a webinar titled “Using the Phone Without
Fear: How to Make Fundraising Phone Calls and Ask
for Gifts” on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28, at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Presented by Simon Scriver, a professional fundrais-
ing consultant, coach, trainer and practitioner, the
webinar aims to give attendees the condence they
need to pick up the phone and start making effective
fundraising calls.
According to organizers, whether it’s asking for
money over the phone or using the call to get that
all-important meeting with a potential major donor,
attendees will learn how to structure and script their
calls and what makes a powerful ask, learn the trig-
ger words and phrases that get donors giving more
and go through the hurdles they’ll face and how to
overcome them.
In the end, participants should know:
How to build the call structure and script.
How to open a conversation and get people talking.
How to ask, based on what makes people give and
what potential donors respond to.
How to determine how much to ask for—including
the extra steps for that major gift.
How to inuence donors and personalize the call
to maximize response rates.
The practicalities, such as when to phone, when
to leave a voicemail, how many attempts to make and
more.

Webinar looks at donor
engagement
The Foundation Center will hold a webinar titled
“Start the New Year Right with Year-Round Donor
Engagement” Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
The webinar, which will be hosted on the Founda-
tion Center’s Grantspace.org platform, will be led by
Michael Stein, a veteran nonprot digital strategist
who has worked for the past 25 years at the intersec-
tion of communications, social media and fundraising.
According to organizers, the webinar will look at the
steps nonprots should take after the November and
December fundraising campaigns end. They need a
communication plan designed to engage different types
of donors, including rst-time donors, monthly donors
and those who increased their giving. By starting now,
charities can hit the ground running in January to
refocus all of their supporters on the organization’s
mission, goals and programs for the year.
Participants should come away from the webinar
with the tools and knowledge to:
Engage and retain donors year-round.
Create a balanced communications plan for
donors.
Leverage their email newsletter as a donor en-
gagement tool.
Improve cross-channel communications with
supporters.
Invest in cultivation messaging with donors and
nondonors through social media channels.
Fees for this event are $50.
