Foundation Center webinar focuses
on board member fundraising
The Foundation Center will host a webinar titled
“How to Engage Your Board in Fundraising: Today,
Tomorrow, and Next Year!” on Dec. 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Led by Amy Eisenstein, author of Major Gift Fun-
draising for Small Shops, Raising More with Less and
50 A$ks in 50 Weeks, the webinar will explore proven
tools and techniques for engaging even the most re-
sistant board members in all aspects of fundraising.

train them to fundraise effectively and get them in-

the Foundation Center said.

4Good.org webinar looks
at crafting effective messages
The nonprot resources website 4Good.org will host
a webinar titled “State Your Case—Create Advocacy
Messages That Get Results” on Dec. 2 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Led by Colette Ellis, a professional development
trainer and founder of InStep Consulting, the webi-
nar will look at ways to develop strong advocacy and
communication skills that enable you to build rapport
with potential supporters. According to organizers,
participants will learn how to construct and convey
their advocacy messages in impactful and compelling
ways, and will discover the three types of advocacy
messages and recognize which messages are most ap-
propriate for your different target audiences.

Dec. 16 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Led by fundraising strategist Vanessa Chase Lock-
shin, this webinar will teach attendees how to write
a thank-you letter that truly stands out. Specically,
they will learn why stories are the best content to use in
thank-you letters, what types of stories to use in thank-
you letters and tips for collecting inspiring stories.

Walmart accepting applications
for Community Grants
The Walmart Foundation is currently accepting
applications for funding under its Community Grant
Program, which the foundation established to support
nonprot organizations operating within the service
area of individual Walmart and Sam’s Club stores.
The program is open to nonprot tax-exempt orga-
nizations; government entities; K–12 public and private
schools, colleges and universities; and churches and
other faith-based organizations. Grants of up to $2,500
are awarded in the following priority areas:
Hunger relief and healthy eating. This includes
efforts to ensure that all families have access to afford-
able, nutritious, sustainably grown food.
Sustainability. These grants focus on helping
people understand how families and communities can
live better by using fewer natural resources, as well as
growing healthy food in a more sustainable way.
Women’s economic empowerment. The foundation
provides funding for groups and programs that provide
training and career opportunities to women.
Career opportunity. The foundation supports
many initiatives that provide opportunities through
job training and placement, career advice and greater
access to the resources that help people become self-
sufcient.
Proposals must be submitted by Dec. 31.
