AFP’s ‘Fundraising
on a Shoestring’ webinar
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
will host “Fundraising on a Shoestring (Fundraising
for Those With No Time to Fundraise)” on April 14
at 1:00 p.m. ET.
According to the AFP, the webinar will be led by
Alice Ferris and James Anderson, partners in Goal-
Busters, which specializes in outsourced development
for small nonprots; integrated fundraising, marketing
and strategic planning; and customized education and
training programs.
The webinar will help smaller nonprots learn how
to decide which of the many fundraising activities will
work best for their organizations. The webinar will
touch on:
r The role of technology and what it can and can’t do.
r Mobilizing volunteers even if they think they don’t
want to fundraise.
r Online giving and other social platforms.
r Why small organizations should avoid big events.
Fees for the hour-and-a-half session are $159 for AFP
members and $295 for nonmembers.

Foundation Center webinar
focuses on fundraising budgets
The Foundation Center will host “More Asking,
Less Writing: Budgets That Make the Case” on its
GrantSpace.org platform on April 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
According to organizers, the webinar will be hosted
by Marilyn Hoyt, a teacher, writer and consultant who
has some 20 years of experience raising over $200 mil-
lion as a founding staff member of the New York Hall
of Science.
Per the website, the webinar “benchmarks the most
effective practices of successful project and general
operating support fundraisers.”
Topics to be covered during the hour-and-a-half
session include:
r Developing a one-page budget to tell the story of
your work.
r Using the budget to convey the quality and impact
of your project.
r The relationship between the project budget and
your organization’s operating budget.
r Building an ask that draws the funder into the proj-
ect while minimizing your grant administration costs.

Grants available for amphibian
protection and rescue projects
Minneapolis-based Amphibian Ark is accepting
funding proposals under its Seed Grant program that
supports the launch of new projects aimed at protecting
amphibian species at risk of extinction.
The program awards grants of up to $5,000 to fund
small start-up rescue projects for species that cannot
currently be saved in the wild. Projects should:
r Be focused on species whose threats cannot be
mitigated in nature in time to prevent their extinction
and who therefore require ex situ intervention to persist.
r Involve working with species within their native
range country.
r Involve range-country biologists in the project.
r Link ex situ programs to in situ conservation.
r Involve partnerships to maximize the likelihood of
the program’s long-ter m sustainability.
To be eligible, organizations must be considered
tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code.
