PREFACE
The transportation industries—motor, rail, air, and ocean shipping—
face myriad regulatory and antitrust issues. The Transportation Antitrust
Handbook is designed to provide an in-depth review of these regulatory
and antitrust issues.
Each chapter of the Handbook is dedicated to a specific industry.
Chapter I addresses antitrust and regulatory issues in the motor
transportation industries. Chapter II describes regulatory and antitrust
issues in the rail transportation industry. Chapter III provides a
comprehensive review of regulatory and antitrust issues involving both
domestic and international air travel. Chapter IV discusses regulatory and
antitrust issues in the ocean shipping industry.
Within each chapter, the Handbook seeks to provide historical
context for the current applicable regulatory and antitrust schemes and
then provide a detailed review and analysis of the antitrust issues that
arise in both regulatory and antitrust contexts in that industry. Where
possible, the book identifies emerging issues which will shape future law
and regulations.
The Handbook is the product of many dedicated lawyers and
economists. Amanda Wait and Bruce McCulloch coordinated the editing
and drafting of this book. The following practitioners worked under their
leadership to draft it:
Cerissa Cafasso
Ian Conner
Angela Dively
