Chapter 5: Phase V: Back to New

York (July 2019 – Ongoing)

After the adoption of the consensus-based recommendations by the

OEWG, the Co-Chairs returned to New York, bringing the pro-

cess back to the UNGA . Chapter 5, entitled “Back to New York,”

focuses on the most recent developments of the fulllment of the Resolution

“Towards a Global Pact for the Environment.” It notes the events since June

2019 until Aug ust 2019, when this was last updated. Section I covers an

informal brieng from the Co- Chairs to the President of the General Assem-

bly in July 2019. Section II briey notes a UNEA-5 Bureau meeting , in which

the recommendations of the OEWG were highlighted. Section III relates to

the adoption of Resolution No. A/RES/73/333 by the UNGA, fully adopt-

ing the recommendations from the OEWG. Section IV presents a potential

timeline for 2022.
