Ohio gets 'C' on development report card.

Ohio's economic development efforts earned it average grades, according to the Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) in its 19th Development Report Card for the States.

While companies in Ohio are doing better than businesses elsewhere, the CFED warned that an unfriendly environment for private investment and research and development (R & D), coupled with a scarcity of entrepreneurs, isn't promising for Ohio's future.

Ohio's economic performance earned it a "C" on the report card, but it scored a "B" for business vitality and entrepreneurial energy. The grade for development capacity fell from a "B" to a "C," which includes financial, human and infrastructure resources required for innovation.
