both subjectively and objectively offensive by a reason-
able jury. He also ruled that since Khan was the only
Indian male clerk in the Emergency Room Division,
using the “Bin Laden” nickname to refer to him was
enough to perhaps convince a reasonable jury that the
nickname was racially motivated.
According to Judge Blakey, a reasonable jury had
the right to believe the disputed testimony of fellow
employee DeJesus in deciding that the conduct was
both severe and pervasive.
He denied the motion with respect to that claim.

Sustainable business models could
reap huge economic, social returns
New research from the Business & Sustainable
Development Commission shows that sustainable
business models could open economic opportuni-
ties worth up to $12 trillion and increase employ-
ment by up to 380 million jobs by 2030.
In its agship report, Better Business, Better
World, the commission said that while the last few
decades have lifted hundreds of millions out of
poverty, they have also led to a slew of other social
challenges, including unequal growth, increasing
job insecurity, ever more debt and ever greater envi-
ronmental risks. The social sector has struggled to
shoulder the burden these new challenges present.
To address this, the commission believes the busi-
ness and investment community must be guided by
the Sustainable Development Goals—17 objectives
to eliminate poverty, improve education and health
outcomes, create better jobs and tackle our key
environmental challenges by 2030. The commis-
sion believes the Goals provide the private sector
with a new growth strategy that opens valuable
market opportunities while creating a world that is
both sustainable and inclusive. And the potential
rewards for doing so are signicant.
The report reveals 60 sustainable and inclusive
market “hotspots” in just four key economic areas
could create at least $12 trillion, worth over 10
percent of today’s GDP. The breakdown of the
four areas and their potential values is: Energy—
$4.3 trillion; Cities—$3.7 trillion; Food &
Agriculture—$2.3 trillion; and Health and
Well-being—$1.8 trillion.
