Ofce Depot Foundation cuts
corporate ties, rebrands
National ofce supply chain The Ofce Depot has
cut ties with the Ofce Depot Foundation, which
served as the company’s primary charitable giving
vehicle for more than two decades. However, the
foundation will not close up shop, but will instead
continue on under a new name—the Listen Learn
Care Foundation. According to Foundation Presi-
dent Mary Wong, the Listen Learn Care Founda-
tion will continue with the mission and activities
that have been the foundation’s hallmark for years,
including:
The National Backpack Program, which began
in 2001 and has donated more than 4 million back-
packs and sackpacks to deserving children since
that time.
The Difference Maker! Movement, which seeks
to bolster the capabilities of nonprot organiza-
tions by providing the expertise, resources and
collaboration they need to increase their capacity
while becoming more efcient and effective, among
other things.
The Difference Makers Leadership Forum,
formerly known as Weekend in Boca, which brings
together nonprot executives, board members and
volunteers each year to gain a deeper understanding
of the roles they play as leaders within their organiza-
tions and the ways in which they can work together
effectively.

However, it ruled that what happened during the
interim period should be considered by a jury in de-
ciding the amount of the damages to award Shultz.
It explained that an impulsive “You’re red” followed
by an immediate change of heart should result in little
or no damages. However, it noted that the synagogue
did not attempt to rescind the termination until two
weeks had passed, and said Shultz experienced the
dislocation of losing her employment at a particularly
vulnerable time, undertook the effort of retaining
counsel and informed the congregation that she was
going to le suit.
Shultz further argued that she had suffered a hos-
tile work environment after the notice of ter mination
because: (1) she overheard a phone call in which Reiss
disparaged her, (2) her name was removed from a
wall and a newsletter and (3) neither the rabbi nor
the trustee who attended the “termination meeting”
spoke to her again.
Assuming the truth of the alleged uncomfortable
incidents, the court ruled that even when considered
together they were not sufciently pervasive to raise
an issue as to whether she suffered a hostile work
environment.Young v. City of Mobile, et al.

of New York, et al., U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2d
Circuit, No. 16-3140-cv, 08/10/2017].

Aviv resigns as CEO of Feeding
America
Diana Aviv has resigned from her role as CEO
of Feeding America for personal reasons, effective
immediately. According to the organization, Keith
Monda, chair of the Feeding America board of
directors, will take a more active role as executive
chairman on an interim basis while the group searches
for Aviv’s replacement.
Aviv joined Feeding America in October 2015,
transitioning from an executive leadership role at the
Independent Sector. Since then, the organization has
implemented innovative strategies to ght hunger
and provide nutritious meals to people in need. In
2017, the organization, through its network, pro-
vided about 4.2 billion meals to more than 46 million
people, prevented 3.3 billion pounds of food from
being wasted and distributed 1.3 billion pounds of
fruits and vegetables—making it the largest hunger-
related nonprot and the third-largest charity in the
United States.
