Lisa Bittle Tancredi is a bankruptcy and creditors' rights partner practicing in Gebhardt & Smith LLP's Baltimore and Wilmington, Del., offices. During her more than 20 years of private practice, she has represented debtors, lenders, principals, trustees, committees, purchasers, sureties, landlords and nearly every other type of constituency that may be involved in a financially distressed commercial relationship. Formerly a partner of Venable LLP, her practice most recently has focused on representing financial institutions, funds, agents and lenders in syndicated financial facilities, and other creditors, both in and out of court. Ms. Tancredi is a past president of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland. From 2013-16, she chaired the Maryland Local Bankruptcy Rules Committee, spearheading comprehensive revisions to the local rules. She currently chairs the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association/U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland Liaison Committee. She also is a coordinating editor for the ABI Journal and co-chaired ABI's Labor and Employment Committee from 2008-09. Ms. Tancredi was included in the Baltimore Business Journal's "40 Under 40" in 2006. She has authored many published articles and given presentations to bar associations and clients on numerous facets of the law. Ms. Tancredi received her B.S. cum laude in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she was designated to the Order of the Coif and earned the Arnold Bridgewater Prize for Commercial Paper and American Jurisprudence Awards for Legal Writing and Commercial Paper.
