John F. Fisher, 80, a well-known former bank marketer who served for 33 years as the senior marketing officer at Bank One Corp., Columbus, Ohio, died at his home in Montana on June 27.

He was a former member of the Bank Marketing Association, the predecessor organization to the ABA Marketing Network.

He was internationally recognized in the banking industry for his early accomplishments in the '60s, '70s and '80s, having pioneered many developments of the modern day credit card. He also helped invent and introduced the first nationally accepted debit card and introduced the group of automatic teller machines that evolved into the present day ATM.
