Weare delighted to present the Twenty-FifthAnniversary issue of the Journal of Economics
& Management Strategy. As JEMS completes its first quarter century, the editors would
like to take note of some new developments at the journal and to look forward as well.
JEMS was founded at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern Uni-
versity and is now housed at the Harvard Business School. The editors of JEMS thank
Kellogg for its past support and are very grateful to HBS for hosting the journal. We
welcome our new Editorial Assistant Sarah Shumway, who helped establish JEMS in
its new home and contributed greatly to the new website and the journal’s presence on
social media.
Ramon Casadesus-Masanell now serves as joint editor with Dan Spulber. Ramon
is the Herman C. Krannert Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business
School and specializes in management strategy, managerial economics, and industrial
organization. He studies the strategic interaction between organizations that operate
different business models and is interested in the limits to contracting and the role
of trust for management strategy. Ramon’s expertise will continue to help JEMS be a
leading journal in the Economics of Strategy.
Going forward, JEMS will continue to develop as a general interest journal that
addresses the economics of the firm and its implications for management strategy.JEMS
has increased its focus on Innovation Economics and will continue to develop this field.
The journal will also continue to feature rigorous research in economics and related
work in management, finance, and marketing.
JEMS derives its success from having a great group of coeditors who are leading
experts in their fields. JEMS has added new coeditors as the journal widens its areas
of interest. The journal has continued its expertise in economic theory and empirical
economics and has strengthened its presence in experimental economics.
JEMS has published 753 articles to date, many of which have more than 250 citations
in economics and management. The top ten cited papers to date are:
Baron, David P. (2001) “Private Politics, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Integrated
Strategy” Journal of Economics & Management Strategy Vol. 10 No. 1, pp. 7–45.
