Gen Z's Impact on Board Decision-Making.

In its latest report, Why Gen Z Matters and What Boards Should Know, the EY Center for Board Matters seeks to address the impact Generation Z is set to have on boardroom discussions. The report focuses on what makes Gen Z (people born between 1997 and 2007) noteworthy, in what ways they are already impacting companies and their boards, and questions boards should be asking about Gen Z.

According to the report, Gen Z stands out for its ability to combine physical and virtual realities, its commitment to authenticity--in a recent EY report, 92% of Gen Z said it is their most important value--and its pragmatic approach to maintaining mental health and wellness.

The article notes that Gen Z is already shaping companies' practices in areas such as streamlining of technology and processes, the need to establish trust with employees in lieu of expectations of loyalty, and means of accomplishing work, with Gen Z expecting more focus on getting the work done as opposed to working an established set of hours.
