Volume 49 of Administration & Society (A&S) begins with a look at the past,
the present, and the future. A symposium on women in public administration
appeared in Public Administration Review in 1976. It is long past time to
revisit that focus on scholarship and practice to consider where public admin-
istration has been, where it is now, and where it may be going next. Maria
D’Agostino and Nicole Elias have brought together seven excellent peer
reviewed articles for this Women in Public Administration special issue. The
articles examine critical issues in depth and push the boundaries of scholar-
ship on matters still very much in contention. A&S is proud to provide a
forum for this research and scholarship. I hope you will consider joining in on
the dialogue and debate at A&S Sine Fine (https://adminsociety.com/).
