Editor’s Corner
This issue of Volume 37 of the Journal of Legal Studies Education (JLSE) could
not have been produced without it being passed to us from the able hands
of Sandra (Sandy) Benson and her tireless effort to keep the JLSE at the
forefront of blind, peer-reviewed articles related to pedagogy and the study
and teaching of the plentitude of business law topics. I would also like to thank
our new Managing Editor, Carolyn Plump from LaSalle University, who was
instrumental in making the smooth transition as well. We have added several
more Articles Editors, including Evan A. Peterson (Senior Articles Editor),
and Aubree L. Walton and John Paul.
Our first article comes from the work of five authors, Kenneth J.
Sanney, Lawrence J. Trautman, Eric D. Yordy, Tammy W. Cowart, and
Destynie J.L. Sewell who explore truth telling, trust, and relationships, and
provide pedagogical materials accordingly. Then, Nathaniel Grow, through
a hypothetical involving a Major League Baseball franchise, presents a dis-
cussion and exercises related to the federal trademark registration pro-
cess. Lastly, Julie Furr Youngman proposes a mock oral argument ex-
ercise for undergraduate business students to enhance higher-ordered
learning.
This issue also has two short pieces in our Perspectives on the Disci-
pline section. The first comes from Robert C. Bird and Cheryl B. Kirschner
who compiled a report from the School of Business at the University of Con-
necticut, which hosted the Summit on the Academic Profession of Business
Law in May 2019 that, among many things, focused on the interrelationship
between AACSB International, our business law discipline, and the future
of business schools. Finally, Marisa Anne Pagnattaro provides her Keynote
Address delivered at the same event.
While you are reading this, we are already working on our next issue.
A special thank you to all the reviewers, many of whom are also new, who
continue to work hard to make sure that our production is second to none.
I hope you enjoy what you see, and perhaps some of these ideas can be
