Dr. Deborah Birx joins investment firm Innoviva Inc.

Dr. Deborah Birx, who served as the White House coronavirus response coordinator under President Donald Trump from 2020 until 2021, has joined the board of Innoviva, a Burlingame, Calif, investment firm that collects a portfolio of royalties including respiratory assets partnered with Glaxo Group Limited. She also joined ActivePure Technology, a filtration company, as chief medical and science advisor. This series of moves follows her retirement from government after decades as a public health official.

In March 2021, Birx joined The George W. Bush Institute as a senior fellow. "From her time as a Colonel in the United States Army to her most recent role coordinating the response to the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Birx has been an exemplary public servant and renowned expert in the medical field," said Holly Kuzmich, executive director of the Bush Institute. "She has run some of the most high-profile and influential programs at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and US Department of State."
