COVID-19 testing available in several S.C. counties.

Free COVID-19 testing will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Forest Heights Elementary School in Columbia.

The school, located at 2500 Blue Ridge Terrace, is in S.C. zip code 29203, which has 114 reported and estimated cases of COVID-19. The testing site will feature drive-thru and walk-up options to anyone who wants to be tested.

"As Richland County continues to see a rise in coronavirus cases, we all have to remain vigilant in protecting our health and the health of those around us," said Rep. Kambrell Garvin, D-Columbia, in a news release.

The testing is conducted by Medical University of South Carolina health care professionals.

Richland County had a state-high 1,100 reported and 6,757 estimated cases of COVID-19, according to S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control data as of May 9. South Carolina had 7,653 reported and 47,011 estimated cases.

As of May 10, 331 people in S.C. had died of the coronavirus, according to DHEC.

DHEC has announced new mobile testing locations this week, including five in Charleston County. The agency has also launched a webpage to share information about mobile testing clinics.
