Silicon Valley Community
Foundation Innovation Conference
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation will
host the 2016 Innovation Conference Oct. 9–11 in
San Francisco.
According to organizers, the conference will
bring together philanthropists, private foundations,
community foundations, corporate foundations
and corporate social responsibility professionals
to explore how emerging technologies can be used
for social good.
The conference will focus on how technology is
transforming the areas of education, health, jobs
and the economy, and big data—and how the phil-
anthropic community can play a role. Individual
sessions will include:
“Gamifying the Education System,”
“Big Investments in Low-Cost Solutions: How
Philanthropy Is Using Technology to Solve Global
Health Issues,”
“The Gig Economy and Its Impact on the
Social Sector,
“Big Data’s Connection to Government Ser-
vices” and
“A New Approach: Using Technology to Cre-
ate Personalized Learning Plans.”

Annual National Conference for
Growing Community Foundations
The Kansas Association of Community Founda-
tions will host the 2016 Annual National Conference
for Growing Community Foundations Oct. 17–18
in Wichita.
According to organizers, this conference is tai-
lored to small-staffed and volunteer-led community
foundations in rural, small urban and suburban
America. It is designed to meet the needs of board
members and staff in practical training to enhance
skills in all major areas of community foundation
management.
The conference brings attendees from all over
the country to network, learn and share experiences
with others just as passionate about community
foundations. This year’s theme—“The Power of To-
gether”—will feature in up to 30 concurrent sessions,
presentations and two plenaries on topics related
to asset development, legal aspects, governance,
marketing, nance and operations, programs, and
leadership.

Philanthropy Southwest
Annual Conference
Philanthropy Southwest will hold its 68th Annual
Conference Oct. 27–29 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
According to the organization, the conference
consistently draws several hundred attendees each
year. Registration is open to trustees and staff of
grantmaking organizations and provides the oppor-
tunity to connect with fellow philanthropists located
or making investments in the Southwestern United
States. Conference participants report that they are
energized by the sessions they attend, inspired to
collaborate and motivated to nd opportunities for
change within their communities.
Breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics,
including:
• “Giving Trends of the Southwest,”
• “Impact of the Nonprot Vote,
“Conservation and Economic Opportunity
Through Environmental Tragedy,
“The Grief Journey: A Long Winding Road and
Its Impact on Children” and
“The Virtues of Patient Capital: Challenges and
Opportunities in a Low Return World.”

to $1,100 depending on a number of factors.
