AMI a “capstone experience”
for students
The Nonprot Leadership Alliance—an organiza-
tion dedicated to strengthening the leadership of the
social sector and sustaining the ability of nonprots
to fulll their missions with a talented and prepared
workforce—will present the 2015 Alliance Manage-
ment Institute (AMI) Jan. 4–7, 2015, at the Salt
Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.
According to the Institute brochure, the AMI
is considered a “capstone experience” for students
seeking the Certied Nonprot Professional (CNP)
credential. AMI said this year’s theme is one of stra-
tegic partnerships, where attendees will discuss how
innovative nonprots are creating strategic alliances
that help their organizations become more efcient.
Past plenary speakers have included Cathy Tis-
dale, president and CEO of Camp Fire, and Stacey
Stewart, U.S. president of United Way Worldwide.
Late registration (Dec. 13, 2014–Jan. 4, 2015) is
$450 for afliated students and $625 for nonafliated

11th Annual Nonprot
Governance Symposium
The University of San Diego’s School of Leader-
ship and Education Sciences will host the 11th Annual
Nonprot Governance Symposium, “CommonSense
Governance,” Jan. 8–10, 2015.
This year’s event consists of 45 workshops, semi-
nars and lectures facilitated by eld experts exploring
“internal and external strategies, systems, methods,
best practices and successful examples,” organizers
said. Speakers will include Alberto Cortés, executive
director, Mama’s Kitchen; Chic Dohoney, board trea-
surer, Ocean Discovery Institute, and audit partner,
Deloitte & Touche LLP; Jessica Kort, marketing and
communications ofcer, Jewish Community Founda-
tion; and Sharon M. Lawrence, Esq., president/CEO,
Voices for Children.
The cost to attend Friday and Saturday is $225.

FFE conference combats
complexity, navigates change
The Foundation for Financial Education (FFE)—an
afliate of the New York State Society of Certied Public
Accountants (NYSSCPA)—invites practitioners, execu-
tives, board members and nancial employees working
at or with nonprot organizations to join them for the
37th Annual Nonprot Conference on Jan. 15, 2015 at
the New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square.
According to the conference webpage, this year’s
one-day event, “Combating Complexity and Navi-
gating Change,” will include the National Pension
Regulatory Authority’s continued impact, the Ofce
of Management and Budget’s new “Super Circular,”
and potential nancial statement reporting changes
and their impact, among other topics.
Scheduled speakers include Michael Cooney,
Nixon Peabody LLP; Allan Blum, Loeb & Troper
LLP; and Salvatore D’Amato, New York State Ofce
of the State Comptroller.
The cost to attend is $385 for members and $510
for nonmembers.

Framingham hosts annual
MSCPA conference
The Massachusetts Society of Certied Public Ac-
countants (MSCPA)—a premier state professional or-
ganization of members in public accounting, industry
and business, government and education—will host
its Annual Nonprot Conference on Thursday, Jan.
15, 2015, at the Sheraton Framingham.
According to the conference webpage, this year’s
speakers will include Melanie Lockwood Herman
of the Nonprofit Risk Management Center and
Marci Thomas, CPA, MHA, CGMA, of Loscalzo
Associates.
The cost to attend is $239 for MSCPA-American
Institute of Certied Public Accountants (AICPA)
members or MSCPA members, and $309 for AICPA
members or nonmembers.
