National Scholarship Providers
Association Annual Conference
The National Scholarship Providers Association
will hold its Annual Conference Oct. 9–11 in Seattle.
According to organizers, the conference presents the
intersection of diverse organizations in the scholar-
ship industry, including foundations, public charities,
educational institutions and corporations. This event
unites over 400 attendees from across the United
States and Canada for two-and-a-half days of learn-
ing, networking and sharing.
Keynote and general sessions will feature speak-
ers such as John O’Leary, author and motivational
speaker from Live Inspired; Trisha Ross Anderson
from the Making Caring Common Project at the
Harvard Graduate School of Education; and leaders
and advisers from College Advising Corps.
The event will offer more than 60 workshops on
industry trends, scholarship program administration
and student support services; Learning Circles where
scholarship professionals can share effective practices;
the Gallery of Good Practices, which highlights new
and innovative developments in the eld; and numer-
ous arranged and informal networking opportunities.
The conference offers ve distinct tracks. Choose
one to help focus your learning experience, or attend
those sessions most applicable to you and your work.

National Forum on Family
Philanthropy
The National Center for Family Philanthropy will
hold its National Forum on Family Philanthropy Oct.
18–20 in Washington, D.C.
According to organizers, the forum is designed for
individual donors and family members, trustees and
staff of family foundations, community foundation
donors, family ofces, family businesses, and com-
munity foundation CEOs or senior staff responsible
for family philanthropy services.
The forum features peer-learning sessions and
conversations in an environment that fosters safe,
candid discussions.
Coinciding with the NCFP’s 20th anniversary, the
forum celebrates the growth of family philanthropy—
with an eye to the future.
Attendees will gain perspective from world-class
speakers such as documentary lmmaker Ken Burns,
award-winning commentator Cokie Roberts and best-
selling author Robert Putnam.
Discussions will examine the latest trends in family
giving and provide insights into how these trends will
shape the future of the eld.

2017 Our Common Future
conference
The Independent Sector, working in partnership
with the Council of Michigan Foundations and
the Michigan Nonprot Association, will host the
2017 Our Common Future conference Oct. 25–27
in Detroit.
According to organizers, Our Common Future
will bring together individuals and organizations
bent on making the world a better place. Nonprots,
foundations, corporations and social enterprises will
all nd tools and resources that will help them do
their jobs better.
Our Common Future is specically designed to
be a level meeting ground for changemakers of all
kinds, according to the Independent Sector. Attend-
ees will exchange ideas with inuential funders and
collaborate with thought leaders. The conference will
bring local, regional, state and national perspectives
together for sessions and speakers from across the
entire sector.
