GEO 2017
Leading Change Conference
Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, in
partnership with Grantmakers of Western Penn-
sylvania, will hold the 2017 Leading Change
Conference Nov. 13–14 in Pittsburgh.
According to organizers, the conference will
provide attendees with the opportunity to become
stronger advocates for—and leaders of—change.
Attendees will come together with their peers
who are on the same journey, looking for ways to
build their leadership skills and influence their
colleagues, organizations and the field more
broadly. They’ll explore their own roles and im-
mediate spheres of influence, and learn skills
that will increase their own capacity to address
organizational beliefs and behaviors.
In the end, they’ll return home equipped with
tools, frameworks and a peer community that
will help them lead the desired change effort, the
GEO said.
Fees for this event range up to $1,200.

ARNOVA 2017
Annual Conference
The Association for Research on Nonprofit
Organizations and Voluntary Action will hold its
2017 Annual Conference Nov. 16–18 in Grand
Rapids, Michigan.
According to ARNOVA, the theme for this year’s
conference is “Strengthening Local Communities:
The Role of Nonprot and Philanthropic Orga-
nizations.” In recent years, the group said, there’s
been a resurgence of interest in place-based work
on the part of nonprots and the larger philan-
thropic community. This is being driven, in part,
by efforts to devolve responsibility for address-
ing public needs to local communities, which has
sparked a surge of scholarly interest in the roles
that nonprots play in local communities, includ-
ing how they impact local economies, health and
education systems, and environments.
Workshops and presentations will explore these
issues and more.
Fees for the conference range up to $426.
