The 2020 Corps Network

National Conference

The Corps Network will hold its 2020 National

Conference Feb. 9–12 in Washington, D.C.

This annual gathering brings together national,

state and local leaders in the elds of youth devel-

opment, community service and the environment.

According to organizers, attendees include roughly

200 directors and senior staff from service and con-

servation corps across the country, ofcials from

federal agencies, representatives from philanthropic

foundations, and friends and supporters of the corps

movement.

This year’s conference theme is “Thrive: The Power

of Community.” According to organizers, there is a

sense of community among the young people that

Corps Network members engage with; within the

towns and cities they serve; and throughout the lands

and waters they maintain and improve. At this year’s

conference, attendees will examine the power their

communities possess, the global and local threats

their communities face and ways they can engage

young adults authentically to sustain community

health through service.

2020 Agents of Change Summit

The Agents of Change Summit will be held Feb.

10–11 in San Diego.

According to organizers, the Agents of Change

Summit provides attendees with a fast-paced agenda

covering advanced topics in the science and tech-

nology of behavior change and its implications for

public health.

The summit offers sessions and workshops cov-

ering new research, case studies, technologies and

insights to help public health professionals and

health-oriented nonprot groups change health be-

haviors in their communities. Designed specically for

those who challenge the status quo, the summit will

equip over 700 practitioners with the latest evidence-

based strategies and technological tools that can help

inspire health behavior change in communities large

and small. The 2020 summit will expand on topics

covered in previous years, like tobacco, physical

activity, nutrition and sexual health, by diving deeper

into important issues such as opioid misuse, vaping

and mental health.

Featured speakers will include Lauren Culbertson,

manager of Twitter’s Public Policy team; Kathy Cros-

by, director of the Food and Drug Administration’s

Ofce of Health Communication and Education; and

Sam Quinones, author of Dreamland: The True Tale

of America’s Opiate Epidemic.

2020 IMPACT Conference

The 2020 IMPACT Conference will be held Feb.

13–16 in Tempe, Ariz.

According to organizers, the IMPACT Confer-

ence is historically the largest annual conference

focused on the civic engagement of college students

in community service, service learning, community-

based research, advocacy and other forms of social

action.

It builds on a 32-year tradition of the Campus

Outreach Opportunity League Conference and the

Idealist Campus Conference, bringing together stu-

dents, administrators, faculty, AmeriCorps members

and VISTAs, and nonprot professionals to learn

and share effective practices, improve personal skills

and organizational strategies, discover opportunities

and resources, exchange stories and be inspired and

challenged to sustain their efforts.
