Symposium on Women,
Philanthropy and Civil Society
The Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the Indiana
University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy will
host a two-day conference, “Dream. Dare. Do.: Sym-
posium on Women, Philanthropy and Civil Society,”
March 14–15 in Chicago.
According to organizers, the American landscape
is crowded with examples of women’s entrepreneurial
spirit in building a strong civil society through philan-
thropy. “Dream. Dare. Do.” will convene donors and
nonprot leaders for a high-level conversation about
the complexities and opportunities within women’s
philanthropy in the 21st century and skills needed to
meet future challenges. This conversation is timely,
organizers say: With access to more wealth than ever
before—some say as much as $13.2 trillion in North
America alone—women’s voices, perspectives, leader-
ship and resources are needed now more than ever to
address today’s pressing issues.
Featured speakers will include Rose Afriyie, co-
founder of mRelief; Vini Bhansali, executive director
of IDEX/Thousand Currents; Lynne Brickner, na-
tional president of the ARCS (Achievement Rewards
for College Scientists) Foundation; Carrie Schwab-
Pomerantz, chairperson and president of the Charles
Schwab Foundation; and Dara Richardson-Heron,
CEO of the YWCA USA.
Registration fees for this event range up to $775.
