Mission Investing Institute
The Mission Investors Exchange will hold its
14th Mission Investing Institute June 19–21 in
Troy, Michigan.
According to organizers, this intensive educa-
tional program is designed for foundations to bet-
ter engage and strengthen their own practices with
curricula made for both newcomers and seasoned
mission investors. Participants will be immersed
in the broad spectrum of impact investing with
emphasis on the mission focus of foundations.
Attendees will have multiple occasions to network
and learn from fellow foundation professionals in
small settings. Sessions are led by Mission Investors
Exchange members and foundation professionals
with deep-impact investing experience.
The updated curriculum, developed especially
for foundation staff and trustees, includes brief
presentations and deep-dive case study examples
on issue areas such as the internal administration
and organizational dynamics of foundations; em-
ploying a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) lens;
investing in clean energy and water infrastructure;
the power of guarantees; and using the foundation’s
position as a shareholder to create impact.
The sessions will address topics such as:
The risk-and-return conversation.
Building and articulating the case for mission
investing with community partners, colleagues,
trustees and advisors.
Priming deal ow and building infrastructure
in place.
Identifying, monitoring and reporting nan-
cial and social metrics.
Working collaboratively.

2017 Conference
on Volunteering and Service
Points of Light will host its 2017 Conference on
Volunteering and Service June 19–21 in Seattle.
Billed as the largest service-related convening
of nonprot, government, business and civic lead-
ers in the world, the conference draws thousands
of people who care about the future of volunteer
service to learn from, share with and get inspired
by one another.
Representatives from over 3,500 nonprofit,
government, business and civic leaders will come
together to shape the future of volunteerism and
to galvanize the power of people to create change
globally.
With more than 70 workshops from eight diverse
tracks to choose from, attendees have the oppor-
tunity to learn from industry leaders that want to
help them put people at the center of change in their
respective program areas.

2017 InterAction Forum
The 2017 InterAction Forum will be held June
20–22 in Washington, D.C.
Sponsored by InterAction, an alliance of non-
governmental organizations with 180-plus members
from around the world committed to working with
the world’s poor and vulnerable, the Forum will
draw leaders from a variety of sectors to one of the
largest gatherings of international development and
humanitarian professionals.
With diverse breakout sessions, high-level plenary
sessions and an awards banquet, InterAction’s 2017
Forum will provide a stimulating environment for
participants to engage with colleagues and partners
from a variety of sectors to forge common solutions
to pressing global challenges.
According to the organizers, the Forum’s break-
out sessions are specically designed for attendees
at different stages in their careers—including a CEO
track, topical tracks for professional staff and a
