Philanthropy Southwest
nonprot compliance workshop
Philanthropy Southwest, in partnership with the
University of Texas School of Law, will host the 34th
Annual Nonprot Organizations Compliance and
Internal Review Workshop and the Nonprot Orga-
nizations Institute Jan. 11–13, 2017, in Austin, Texas.
According to organizers, the Nonprot Organiza-
tions Compliance and Internal Review Workshop
provides an overview for new entrants and seasoned
practitioners in the eld. The program focuses at-
tention on key compliance issues for both private
foundations and charitable organizations, plus
provides practical walk-throughs of an IRS audit
and an attorney general investigation. It also offers
an interactive opportunity to discuss key forms and
governing documents, such as Form 1023 and Forms
990 and 990-PF.
Meanwhile, the Nonprot Organizations Institute
features leading nationally recognized experts from
private foundations, public charities, law, nance and
government to discuss the latest tax, legislative and
governance issues affecting nonprot organizations.

13th Annual Nonprot
Governance Symposium
The University of San Diego School of Leadership
and Education Sciences will host the 13th Annual
Nonprot Governance Symposium Jan. 12–14, 2017,
in San Diego.
According to organizers, the Nonprot Gover-
nance Symposium will treat attendees to strategies
for growing exceptional boards and engaging their
communities.
The conference is designed to help nonprots and
philanthropies govern more effectively, with these sim-
ple objectives in mind: to educate participants about
the sector, inspire them to make positive changes to
their organizations and connect them with one another
so that all can better understand the regional context
they operate within.
The event will feature keynote speakers such as
Jackie VanderBrug, managing director, global wealth
and investment management, Bank of America Merrill
Lynch; Paul Shoemaker, founding president of Social
Ventures Partners International and author of Can’t
Not Do; and Hernán Luis y Prado, founder and execu-
tive director of Workshops for Warriors and White
House Champion of Change Award winner.

CASE Conference
for Development Researchers
The Council for Advancement and Support of
Education will hold its Annual Conference for Devel-
opment Researchers Jan. 18–20, 2017, in Fort Myers,
Florida.
The conference is geared toward development re-
search, prospect management and development analyt-
