Commentary
A lot is being done to find out whether
administrations are profitable and effective.
The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO)
frequently conducts performance audits and
evaluations of public policies to verify that taxpayers’
money is well spent. Such studies contribute to
improving the conduct of public servants, or so we
hope.
But what about legislators? Are they influenced by
such studies of profitability when dealing with budget
proposals or legislative drafts? The article by Labinot
