§3.3HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT
CR 3 was originally adopted in 1967 and was amended in 1972 and 1978. In its original form, the first two sentences of CR 3(a) superseded RCW 4.28.010 (repealed 1984), which also provided that an action could be commenced by either filing a complaint or serving a summons. Amendments to CR 3 concerned two aspects of the rule.
