Cathy Ventrell-Monsees is a nationally recognized expert on age discrimination. She
has written more than 50 amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and circuit courts
on age discrimination issues and litigated several ADEA collective actions. For thir
-
teen years, she directed the age discrimination litigation project at AARP. At the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission, she served as a senior advisor to Chair Jenny R.
Yang, Acting Chair and Commissioner Victoria A. Lipnic, Chair Jacqueline A. Berrien
and Commissioner Stuart J. Ishimaru. She led Workplace Fairness as its president for
three years and served on its Board of Directors for ten years. She served on the Board
of Directors of the National Employment Lawyers Association, on the Council of the
ABA Labor and Employment Section, and as co-chair of its EEO Committee. Ms. Ven-
trell-Monsees taught employment discrimination law at the Washington College of Law at American University for
15 years. She has been quoted in national publications, including the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington
Post and LA Times, and frequently speaks at major conferences as an expert on age discrimination issues. She is
currently consulting on strengthening state civil rights laws and age discrimination and diversity trainings.
