AFA Financial and Board Meeting Summaries: The AFA Board of Direc-

tors has voted to publish a Board Meeting Summary to increase transparency

of AFA governance and decisions made by the Board. Recent Board Meeting

Summaries as well as AFA Financial Statements are posted on the AFA website

(www.afajof.org). We hope that this additional communication is informative

and we welcome your feedback.

AFA Annual Meeting Programs: AFA Annual Meeting Programs since 1950

are included in the set of all ASSA Programs available at the American Eco-

nomics Association website (http://www.aeaweb.org/Annual Meeting/assa pro-

grams/). Digitizing of the older programs was a joint effort of the AFA and the

AEA.

AFA Student Travel Grant Nominations: This year the Association will

again award travel grants to doctoral students to help defray the costs of at-

tending our 2018 Annual Meeting to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Any

current AFA member in the United States or abroad is invited to nominate one

student, whom he or she has taught or supervised, to be considered for this

award. The student must be a student member of the Association (student on-

line memberships are available free at http://www.afajof.org/view/join01.html);

must be beyond the first year in her or his doctoral studies in finance, financial

economics, or a related field; and must not be on the job market during the

academic year in which the grant is made. No student may participate in this

grant program more than once. Awards will be determined based on recommen-

dations and the award amount will factor travel cost to the Annual Meeting

from the student’s institution as well as the number of nominations from each
